Sergeant Robert Vander Ploeg heads the Traffic unit which is responsible for any construction and traffic issues that may arise from any planned or emergency construction or road closures that occur within the Borough of Franklin. The Traffic Division also oversees all Crossing Guards, their training, and School Posts they are assigned to. Sergeant Vander Ploeg also trains and maintain the records for all officers within the department for radar and work zone safety.

If a resident has an issue with parking or speeding vehicles, they can call the Sergeant Vander Ploeg at the traffic division at 973-827-7700 extension 227 or by email to Robert VanderPloeg. If the complaint needs an immediate response, call the police and speak to a dispatcher who will take your complaint and assign an officer to respond to the area to investigate, or call 911 for an emergency.
